MACON - Julian Jimmy "JJ" Lumley, 83, joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 20, 2009 leaving from his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2P.M. Monday, November 23, 2009 at Morningside Baptist Church with burial in Snow Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Watson and the Rev. Bobby Jones will officiate.

Mr. Lumley, son of the late Leroy Jackson and Irene Killibrew Lumley, was born in Johnson County and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Rosa Day Lumley. Mr. Lumley served in the United States Army and was retired from Armstrong World Industries and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where he served on the Bereavement Committee for fifteen years and was a member of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Lumley was a devout Christian and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, James Lumley, Vernon Lumley, Edna Smith, Annie Anderson, Ernestine Osborne and Grace Lumley. -The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of United Hospice and to the loyal and dedicated caregivers for the love and support given to Mr. and Mrs. Lumley during their time of need and a "special thank-you" to Ida Roland.

Survivors include his children, David L. Lumley (Yvonne), Julian Dale Lumley (Carole), Cathie Whidby (Lawrence), all of Macon; six grandchildren, Stacey Lumley, Christen Lumley, Melissa Birdsong, Bryan Lumley, Stephanie Malcolm, Neal Birdsong and Catherine Whidby; two step grandchildren, Kevin Whidby and Kellie Eaton; seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
