Edward A. Taylor, 76, a resident of Fort Dodge for 49 years, died Sunday noon at his home, 1326 Eighth avenue north following a short illness. Surviving are his widow and two daughters, Frances Loraine, Mrs. Charles Garlock of Rockford, Illinois and Mary J., Mrs. Mervin J. Downing of this city. A sister Miss Carrie Taylor of Stoughton, Wisconsin, also survives. Three brothers and two sisters proceeded him in death. Mr. Taylor was born in Stoughton in 1861 and lived on a farm until 1888. In that year he came to Iowa and a year later entered the service of the Illinois Central railroad as a fireman. He was promoted to the position of engineer in 1897 and worked for the railroad continuously for 41 years without having his record marred by a wreck. He retired from active service on January 1, 1931. Funeral services will take place Wednesday morning at 8:30 at the home and at 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart church. Burial will be in Corpus Christi cemetery with Laufersweiler in charge.
Edward A. Taylor, age 28, son of Thomas and Lucy (Upton) Edwards was united in marriage January 24, 1893, in Sioux City to Katie Bowen, age 22, daughter of Philip and Nora (O'Connell) Bowen. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge and have lived here since. The 1920 US census shows Edward (58) and Kathryn (49) with daughters Frances Lorraine (14) and Mary (9) living in Fort Dodge.
Among the relatives and friends from out of city who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Williams of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. William Bowen and family and Mrs. John Hogan of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hall, Miss Iva Hall and the Rev. Father P. Malloy of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Guiney and Miss Frances Guiney, Mrs. Frank Sager and Mrs. Earl Stickman of Waverly. Mr. and Mrs. George Dillon of Sioux City and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Edwards of Humboldt.
