Housewife, Cafe owner, boarding house operator, and old time banjo picker extraordinaire. A beloved mother and grandmother.

Many years ago I became a professional banjo player. I played both Scruggs style and old style (clawhammer). Sis taught me to play old style when I was 13 years old. I owe the litle bit of success I had as a musician to her. She both taught me to play and encouraged me.

Noralee married Roy Garner 3 days after meeting him in 1922. They were married until his death in 1979.

She and Roy travelled all around the country during the Great Depression so Roy could find work as a carpenter.

On at least one occasion Noralee and Roy owned and operated a boarding house.

Some of the places they lived were Lake Charles, LA - Beaumont, TX - Richmond, VA - Ft. Payne, AL

In the 1940s they moved to Acworth, Georgia and began operating a string of restaurants, most notably The White Hut Cafe and later, right in downtown, The Coffee Cup Cafe.

She and "Papa" retired around 1960.

She died of a blood clot in the lung at the Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Douglasville, Ga.

She is greatly missed by her grandchildren and will never be forgotten.
