The Tattnall County native was a Baptist and a logger.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Kirkland of Reidsville; a son, Harry Jack Cowart of Vidalia; two brothers, Carl Cowart of Reidsville and Arthur Cowart of Ridgeway, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Callie Peeples of Brunswick and Mrs. Mary Nell Wilson of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday of last week at 3 P.M. in McCall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carlton Duke officiating. Interment was in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jack Cowart, Jr., Gene Kirkland, Jr., Paul Adams, Jerry Cowart, Ronnie Cowart, and A.L. Cowart.
