John Frankenfield was the sixth of twelve known children of Philip William Frankenfield (1775-1857) and Anna Barbara App Frankenfield (1783-1865) in Oct 1802.

John first married to Sarah Ann Rothrock (1813-1859) in c1837-38 by Rev. Yeager. John and Sarah were the parents of five known children, namely:

1. William Henry Frankenfield (1839-1912)
2. Owen Frankenfield (1841-1863)
3. Jacob Frankenfield (1843-1903)
4. John Samuel Frankenfield (1845-1878)
5. Joseph Philip Frankenfield (1853-1854)

After Sarah died, John remarried to Mary A. Erich (1835-1916). John and Mary were the parents of one known child, namely:

6. Ellen Rebecca Frankenfield Smith (1866-1939)

John was a farmer and attended Arndt's Church. In 1850, 1860 and 1870 the family was living at Bethlehem Township. In 1900 and 1910 the widow Mary was living at Allentown with her son-in-law, Francis Smith.
