She was born June 21, 1900, to Richmond V. and Lilly (Harvey) Claunch in Lester (near Mt. Baker). She moved with her family to Buckley where she attended grade school, and then to Raymond, where she was graduated from Raymond High School in June 1918.
She was married to Julius A. "Jude" Laspa, a school friend, on March 1, 1919. They lived in Raymond until 1928 when they moved to Astoria, Ore. They moved to Olympia in 1932.
Mrs. Laspa was a homemaker most of her life, working only during Christmas and holidays, first for Montgomery Ward and then at Calons as a salesclerk.
She was a member of the United Churches, active in the Guilds and Pairs and Spares of the Church, and a member of the Olympia Country and Golf Club for many years, playing both golf and bridge. She was also a member of Trinity Chapter No. 215 Order of the Eastern Star and belonged to Royal Neighbors of America for more than 50 years. She worked as a volunteer at the Senior Lounge for several years until her health started to fail, and for several years was an election inspector for Thurston County.
Surviving Mrs. Laspa are a daughter, Enid Grabill, Lacey; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her son Peyton "Pat", and daughter-in-law K. Harriet Laspa; also three brothers, three sisters and her parents.
