ASHTABULA — Agnes L. Warring, age 87, of Howard Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Ashtabula.

She was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Rome, Ohio, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Graves) Bailey and has been a lifetime area resident. Agnes graduated from Rome High School in 1940, leaving behind five class members of a class that she loved. She then went on to graduate in 1946 as a Registered Nurse from Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing. She then married Charlton C. Warring on Nov. 30, 1946, with whom she had a wonderful lasting marriage until his death on August 4, 2002. They built their own house, a home she dearly loved and where she felt safe and in which she was able to reside until late April of this year.

She loved being a wife, homemaker and mother. In addition, she truly enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse, in which she worked part time at Ashtabula General Hospital from 1954 until her retirement in 1984.

Her church, formerly the First Christian Church on Austinburg Road in Ashtabula, was such an integral part of her life from the mid-1950's until it's final service on Feb. 8, 2009. Her activities, among others, included being a Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir and being on various Christian Women's Fellowship committees. Her Memorial Service is being held at the Bible Baptist Church in Ashtabula where her daughter, Jeanie, was a former member for several years until moving away.

Agnes loved flowers and for many years loved tending her several flower gardens. She enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk show every Saturday evening since its inception in the 1950's. She and her husband enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland Indians for many years, and she carried this interest even into this season.

Surviving her are two daughters, Marlene (Gerald Smith) Lehtinen of Park City, Utah, and Jeanie (John) Turmala of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents in 1978; her husband, Charlton C. Warring in 2002; a brother, Neal Bailey; and a sister, Wilma (Bailey) Yuhas.

A Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 14th, at the Bible Baptist Church, 4448 North Ridge Road West, Ashtabula, with Dr. Larry L. Emery officiating. Burial has taken place at Ridgeview Cemetery in Ashtabula.

Calling Hour will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the Church.

The Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.
