Carl E. Eichelberger, 66, of 56 Oakridge Drive, died Saturday at Lancaster General Hospital after an illness. He had been under a physician's care. He and his wife, Kathryn Eckman Eichelberger, were married 46 years on June 25. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late George and Laura Ruth Bell Eichelberger. He was a 1947 graduate of McCaskey High School. Eichelberger joined Pennsylvania Power & Light in 1950 as a meter reader in Lancaster. In 1972 he advanced to the position of planner analyst in the distribution department and was promoted to foreman of multiple crews in September 1985. He retired in 1990 after 40 years of service. A member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Lancaster, he served on church council and the property committee, and was a member of the Tuesday Afternoon Fellowship group. He was also a member of the Commercial Travelers Association, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 134 of Lancaster, the Millersville Manor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7294, and American Legion Post 34 of Lancaster. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served as an electrician's mate during the Korean War. Surviving besides his wife are two brothers, Jacob of Paradise and John H. of Manheim.
