ONALASKA — Esther Louise Amann, 80, of Onalaska went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Onalaska Care Center. She was born March 27, 1930, in La Crosse, the daughter of David and Genevieve (Riley) Snider, Sr.

Esther attended La Crosse schools while growing up in her family home on Indian Hill on La Crosse's Northside. On Sept. 23, 1947, she married Richard E. Amann. Years after they raised their family in Onalaska, they were divorced. Esther was a stay-at-home Mom to her seven children until she went to work at Company Store until retirement age. She was a member of Gospel Hall where she enjoyed fellowship with fellow believers.

Esther is survived by her seven children and their families, Ronald (Ann) Amann of West Salem, Carolyn (Fred) Reichhoff of Sparta, Leslie (Nancy) Amann of Sparta, Lynette (Greg) Pederson of Trempealeau, Paulette Amann of La Crosse, Barbara Stanke of Bozeman, Mont., and Beth Massman (Vic Buhr III) of Holmen. Esther was blessed with 33 beautiful and talented grandchildren, Michelle Amann, Amy Ross, Paul (Jill) and Benjamin R. Olson, Aric (Twyla) and Caleb Amann, Jason (Randi) and Robert (Jennifer) Santos, Derek, Dr. Erin (Tom Schultz), Karli, Jacob and Brady Pederson, Andrew (Gena) and Ann Marie (Kelly Nindorf) Sagen, Adrian (Robert Diersen), Jordan, Jarreau and Josey Amann, Levi Gilbertson, Kahla Amann, Sally and Riley Stanke, Raeanna and Michaela Johnson, Miranda, Elizabeth, Oliver and Torrell Massman, Leah and Benjamin Langston and Jake Johnson. She is survived by 14 great-grandchildren. Esther is further survived by two sisters, Cleora Betz of Onalaska, and Vera (Rolland) Beach of Southside, Ala.; and a brother, David (Lou) Snider Jr. of Anoka, Minn. She is also survived by in-laws, Bonnie (Len) and Carol Lee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Kermit; two cherished grandchildren, Tyler Amann and Angel Johnson; brothers-in-law, Earl Betz and Lawrence Garvalia; and nephews, Dale Betz, Alan and Steve Snider.

A celebration of Esther's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schumacher- Kish Funeral Home, La Crosse, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Brice Prairie.

The family would like to thank the staff at Onalaska Care Center and FSH Hospice staff for their loving assistance with Mom's care. Our family is grateful for the blessing of the quality time we were given with Mom during her improved health after her diagnosis and treatments for cancer.
