SON OF WILLIAM A BROWN AND COMFORT P. (nee Carnes) STARNES

Siblings: Tabitha Jane Starnes (d/o of Comfort and George D. Starnes); Mary, William R., Thomas, and James Brown per census records.

John Franklin Brown married Amanda Carlton on August 15, 1880 in Paulding County GA as recorded in Paulding Marriage Records, Georgia Archives, page 223. Both John and Amanda are interred in Raccoon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Bartow County, GA.

Per the death record, cause of death was pneumonia.

John and Amanda had the following children:

***NOTE*** Father and mother were William A Brown of SC (died in CSA near Portsmouth VA May 1862) and COMFORT P. nee CARNES Starnes. Comfort first married George D. Starnes in Paulding County Georgia in 1853. George Starnes died in Jun 1858 and Comfort married William A Brown Dec 1858 in Paulding County Georgia but it was not recorded until 1859, possibly because of the unsettled estate of George D. Starnes whose Final Return was not filed in Paulding Probate until 1860 (Administrator of said estate was Richard CARNES of Paulding County). According to the 1900 census Comfort gave birth to 7 children, 4 of who were living which were Tabitha Jane Starnes (married W.H. Tant), John Franklin (married Amanda Carlton), William Richard (married W1 Mary Frances Fountain and W2 Katie Goza), and Thomas W. (wife unknown at this time). Comfort died after 1907 as that is when the last Confederate Widows Pension was filed, burial site remains unknown. If you have information regarding this family, particularly Comfort P.
