Tom Dalby was born August 23, 1893 in Greeley County to Charles and Elizabeth Weller Dalby, and died October 16, 1985 in Arcadia at the age of 92.
Tom attended school in Greeley, Nebraska and when he moved with his family to the Pleasant Valley area in Valley County, continued his schooling in rural school there.
Tom was united in marriage to Ethel Ryan, September 23, 1925 at Julesburg, Colo. They made their home in the Pleasant Valley area of Valley County for a number of years, where they farmed before moving to the Davis Creek area and lived there for 25 years. In 1972 they moved into Arcadia where they retired.
Survivors include his wife Ethel of Arcadia; three sons, Raymond of Columbus, Charles of Scribner and Willis of New Guinea; one daughter, Mrs. Gayle Stephenson of Walden, Colorado; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elmer and Claude and a sister, Florence.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 21, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel with Reverend Donald Studley officiating. The organist was Doris Hill and David Dalby was the soloist.
Active pallbearers were Greg Stevens, Gary Stammer, Randy Dalby, David Dalby, Dan Weyers, Jim Dalby. Honorary pallbearers were Philip Mrsny, Sr., Chester Babcock, Ben Greenland, Robert Sestak, Lloyd Bugler, Willard Hill.
Burial was in the Arcadia Cemetery. Memorials were to go to the Arcadia Rescue Unit or the Arcadia Independent Bible Church. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
