"The Dodge Center Record", Dodge Center, Minnesota, May 12, 1892, p. 4.

Died - In Eagle Lake, May 5, of cholera morbus and heart failure, Ervin L. Babcock, aged 62, years and 10 months.

The report of the death of Mr. Babcock when received here was such a surprise that it was almost discredited. He had been a resident of this vicinity about twenty eight years, but during the past year, since the death of his wife he has been traveling in different parts of the Union. Mr. Babcock was born in Cortland Co., N.Y., removed in 1856 to Wis. and to Minn. in 1864. In 1860 he married Delia Sweet with whom he lived 30 years. She died Mar 15, 1891 and a few weeks ago Mr. Babcock was united in marriage to Mrs. Louise Crom, of Estherville, Iowa.

His sickness lasted but 17 hours. The body was brought here for interment and buried with the impressive rites of the order of the Oddfellows, of which Mr. Babcock was an honored member. He was also a member of the G. A. R. Post of this place having served several years in a Wis. regiment. Mr. Babcock has been for many years a member of the SDB Church of this place and Rev. S. R. Wheeler preached the funeral sermon. Three sons, R. H., Frank & Fred, live near this place. The oldest daughter Flora, is a teacher in the Marshall public schools. Mrs. Ellis Fisk of Rochester, Minn. and Mrs. F. B. Wells of this town are daughters of the deceased. Mr. Babcock was a man of generous impulses, ever ready to do favors for others, and while he did not gain or rather retain much of worldly wealth he had many friends as was evinced by the large attendance of the funeral, the M. E. church, not being of capacity to contain the people.

"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 48, No 20, p 320, May 19, 1892.

At Eagle Lake, Minn., May 5, 1892, of cholera morbus, after a very painful sickness of seventeen hours, Ervin L. Babcock, in the 63d year of his age.

He had lived near Dodge Centre, Minnesota, since 1863, until quite recently. He married the second time and went to Eagle Lake to make his home. At 17 years of age Bro. Babcock united with the Scott Seventh-day Baptist Church. He became a member of what is now the Dodge Centre Church when he came to Minnesota, and held his membership till death. Bro. Babcock was an active, industrious man, generous by nature, open-hearted, sympathies easily aroused, and quick to act. He honored his word; a promise made he would exhaust all energies to fulfill that promise. Three sons and three daughters, all grown to manhood and womanhood, now mourn the loss of both father and mother. The funeral was attended at Dodge Centre, on Sabbath, May 7th, by a large company. Sermon by the pastor.
