Private, Company M, 7th Tennessee Cavalry, enlisted in Adamsville, TN on 4/1/1863. Presumed captured with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/1864, he spent time in Andersonville Prison in Georgia and other eastern prisons. Paroled through Jacksonville, FL on 4/28/1865, he was taken to College Green Barracks, MD, then on to Camp Chase, OH where he mustered out on 6/27/1865. He was a member of the Farragut Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post #6. He applied for an invalid pension in the 1890s. His widow applied for pension in 1922. A minor’s pension for Sam Wells was also filed.
