WILMER W. McFARLAND

Wilmer W. McFarland, son of Alfred and Mary McFarland, was born August 15, 1859, in Lucas county, Iowa and died at the Yocom hospital in Chariton at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 24 days. His entire life was spent in Lucas county where he was engaged in farming. He was a member of the Christian church.

On January 25, 1881, he was married to Ella McCoy. To this union four children were born, Anna, Alva, Alfred and George.

He was preceded in death by his wife on May 14, 1922, and by two sons, Alfred and George, and three sisters and two brothers.

On October 20, 1926, he was married to Anna Erickson, who with one daughter, Mrs. Anna Conner, of Russell, one son, Alva, of Chariton, and three step-sons, Carl, Earl and Raymond Erickson, all of Chariton, and one brother, Frank, of Brighton, Colorado, survive. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services, in charge of the Rev. J. T. Bloom, pastor of the Christian church, were held Monday, June 10, at the Beardsley funeral chapel. Burial was in the Chariton cemetery.

Ralph McCanon, accompanied by Mrs. Dale Burge, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "They Will Never Say Goodbye." Pall bearers were six grandsons, Robert McFarland, of Marshalltown; Harold Conner, of Russell: Leland Conner, Robert Erickson, Wayne Shanks and Keith McFarland, all of Chariton.
