Officer Geoffrey Stone was killed in a motorcycle accident when he collided with a deer on Valleydale Road. He was then struck by two oncoming vehicles.

Officer Stone had served with the agency for 15 years. He is survived by his wife and five children.

Stone, Geoffrey Walter George, 42, of Helena, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008. Geoffrey was born on February 28, 1965 in Birmingham, AL to Ronald and Rita Stone. He served in the United States Air Force for ten years. He served as a Birmingham Police Officer before joining the Vestavia Hills Police Force. He was a member of the Church of the Highlands. He was an active member in the Birmingham Tres Dias Community. He is survived by his wife, Amy Lynne Stone; five children, Katherine Stone, Christopher Stone, Sage Rose, Elijah Rose, and Gabe Rose; mother, Rita Stone; father, Ronald Stone; Grandmother, Elfriede Weigelt; brother, Garrick (Jennifer) Stone and Patrick (Heidi Eikenhorst) Stone. Memorials may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police or your favorite charity.
