WELLINGTON - Louise Cox, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, after a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Church of Christ with Tom Anderson, minister of Memphis Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home.

Louise was born Feb. 19, 1929, on the family farm in Collingsworth County to Gilroy and Lola Holland Rummel. She married Fred Cox on Nov. 26, 1950, in Wellington. He died in 1986.

Louise was a farmer, formerly worked at Greenbelt Electric Coop, was member of the Church of Christ, former Sunday school teacher, member of the 1954 Study Club, and was an election worker for many years. She was the valedictorian for the 1946 class of Wellington High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Allen and husband Stewart of North Platte, Neb.; a son, Tony Cox and wife Debbie of Wellington; a brother, Don Rummel and wife Ada of Lubbock; three grandsons, Matt Allen and wife Audra of Arthur, Neb., Mark Allen of North Platte and Sonny Cox of Wellington; and two great-grandsons, Kegan and Kaleb Allen.

The family suggests memorials be to Collingsworth General Hospital and Clinic, in care of the funeral home, 1300 East Ave., Wellington, TX. 79095; or your favorite charity.
