About 1944, while their sons were serving in WWII, they moved to Tulsa, where they later purchased their first home in 1951. They lived in that house on 2652 S. Pittsburg until the day they died.
For most of her life, Minnie could be quite feisty. Once when she was a little girl, she had an argument with her mother, packed her suitcase, and left the house, going who-knows-where. A family friend happened by, saw little Minnie stalking along the sidewalk, and somehow talked her into going back home. While in high school, she and girlfriend Louise Martin got kicked out of school for painting their lips red, with red hots!
