Eugene E. Fordyce, formerly of Willowick, was a volunteer in an Alzheier's research program at Duke University in Durham, N. C., for nine years.

Mr. Fordyce died Sunday at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky of the debilitating disease. He was 77.

Mr. Fordyce was born in Greene County, Pa., and graduated from German Township High School in 1935.

He was a master sergeant in his infantry outfit, which landed on French soil two weeks after D-Day (the June 6, 1944, invasion of Europe) and fought its way across France to Germany.

After his Army service, Mr. Fordyce moved to the Cleveland area. He lived with his family in Willowick for 37 years. He worked as an electrician for the Herbst Electric Co. in Cleveland and retired from the North American Systems Co. in Bedford in 1981.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 38, of Cleveland and the American Legion in Willowick.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters Jeanette May and Roberta Williams; and son, Allen E.
