Virginia Lorraine Smoot Doss, 69, of Roanoke, Va., passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents, James Howard and Dorothy Staples Smoot; husband, Willard Doss; daughter, Lisa Marie Aldridge; and brothers, Jimmy, Kenneth and Jerry Smoot. Surviving family include daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Lee Lyle, of Roanoke, Kim and Larry Jones, of Wirtz, and Vanessa Gwyn and Richard Brown Jr., of Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy and Nancy Smoot and Michael and Cindy Smoot; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ken Ober; grandchildren, Heather Jones, Adam Lyle, Tanner Brown and Dylan Jones; and great-grandchild, Tristan Dooley-Jones. She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother, "Mee Maw." Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010, at Lotz Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. George Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
