Mrs. Jessie Irene Patterson, 97, of Florence, Ala., passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at ECM Hospital after a long illness.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Greenview Funeral Home, with the service to begin at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Richard Taylor and Travis Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Patterson, who shared a happy 64 years with her; also, her parents, George and Betty Purser; sisters, Ester Bogus, Audie Phillips, Dessie Andrews, Elber Riley and Dean Gist; and a brother, Vellard Purser.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Hipps; a son, E.H. Patterson (Judy); sister, Ruth Coats, all of Florence; grandchildren, Anita Hipps, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and Brooks Patterson (Dawn), of Florence; two great-grandchildren, Sierra Patterson and Zane Patterson; a special friend and caregiver, Linda Spencer; and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Lenis Patterson, Elvis Ray Beasley, Rayford Gist, H.B. Shaw, Carl Ahonen and Billy Phillips. Honorary pallbearer will be Sonny Bogus.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Mann, nurse Christie Hannah, Mid South Home Health, Linda Poarch and Jean Marie.
We could say many good things about our mother but Proverbs 31 says it much better. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
