I. C. Blackwell, a well known miller employed by the Staunton Milling Company, met with a sad accident on the evening of the 13th. On his way to his home in West End with a bundle under one arm and his hands in his pockets he slipped and fell from the trestle bridge to the ground, a distance of about 35 feet. He lay in the snow some time, when he was found and carried to Greaver's coal office and thence to Mr. Peaco's, his brother-in-law, and Dr. F. L. Henkel was called. He found Mr. B suffering from partial breaking of the neck bones and unconscious, in which state he remained most of the time until his death on Tuesday.
Mr. Blackwell was aged 45, was a widower and a son of Capt. Wm. Blackwell, dec'd, of Waynesboro. He was a genial, sociable man and much liked. He left three brothers-L. P., W. J., and C. E. Blackwell, and a sister-Mrs. W. Lee Hanger, of Newport News. The body was buried at Bethlehem church near Ladd.
