Mary Crompton May 7, 1922-Sept. 14, 2010

Mary Crompton died at her home in Evanston, on Sept.14.

Born Klea Mary McKinnon to Arthur and Della Snowball McKinnon on May 7, 1922 in Randolph, Utah, she was the youngest of eight children.

Mary grew up in Randolph and graduated from South Rich High School. On Sept. 26, 1945, she married Junior G. Crompton in Evanston.

Mary worked as a secretary for the Uinta County Extension Office for 28 years, retiring in 1987. During those years she worked closely with area ranchers, county homemakers and 4-H members. She also worked with the Weed and Pest Board and served on the Fair Board.

Junior and Mary traveled after their retirement, heading south with the snowbirds for many years.

Mary enjoyed reading, rodeos, music, family histories, traveling, and most important, her family.

She was a member of Camp Heritage serving as their first Camp Captain. She also served on the County Board of Daughters of Utah Pioneers as President, Vice President and Lesson Leader.

Mary was a member of the L.D.S. Church, serving in many capacities but she especially enjoyed her many years serving as music leader in the Primary.

She saved every treasure that reminded her of family and friends. She always thought of others first before her own needs.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Junior; infant son, Gordon J.; brothers Clint, Jack, and Ralph; sisters Ruby, Ada, Donna, and Maxine.

She is survived by daughters Marie (Ted) Ellingford of Lyman, Maxine (Brent) Parkin of Park City; grandchildren Tina (Dan) Cowan, Clay (Stephenie) Myers, Tara Ellingford, Kari Ellingford, Jason Parkin, Kristin Parkin; great-grandchildren: Wes, Justin, Conner, Gil, Nicole, Dustin, Kelly, and Kaleb; close family friend Karen Deyo, of Evanston and many nieces and nephews also survive. .

Friends may call on the family at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston on Sept. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sept. 17, at the L.D.S. 3rd Ward Chapel on Morse Lee Street in Evanston. Interment will be in Evanston City Cemetery following the service.
