PIONEER DIES AT ORTING

Came to Whidby Island
To Establish Home in 1907

Funeral services were held Monday
at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the
Swedburg Funeral Home for Anders
Anderson who passed away Friday,
September 10 at the Old Soldiers
home in Orting.

Mr. Anderson had visited his
family in Langley the previous
day and seemed to be in good health,
but succumbed suddenly after he
returned to the home where he has
spent the last few years of his life.
Mr. Anderson was born in southern
Sweden July 8, 1969 (sic), being
74 years old at the time of his
death. He came to America when
he was 17 years old to make his
home with his grandmother in
Minnesota. He was in Great Falls,
Montana for some time before
continuing westward.

It was in April of 1903 that
he married Bertine Benson, who
survives him. Their home
here on Whidbey Island was
established in 1907. He was a
veteran of the Spanish-American
War, having seen service in Cuba.

Beside the widow, two children
survive, Mrs. Carl Berquist of
Clinton and Albert Anderson
of Langley, whose son is the
only grandchild. Another close
relative, Mrs. Walter Pierron of
Bellingham, is a cousin.

At the funeral service which was
conducted by John Vint, evangelist,
vocal duets by Misses Dorothy Ioerger
and Bernice Beaver added to the rites.
Interment under the direction of
B.H. Swedburg, was in the Langley
cemetery.
