Willie Lee Barnes Jr., 53, of the 900 block of Wadena Road, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Barnes was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., and was the son of Cora Bundy Barnes of Chesapeake and the late Willie Lee Barnes Sr. He was formerly employed as a master mechanic with Carroll Trucking Inc. in Norfolk. Prior to this, he was with the Hall Auto Clinic for several years and was the former owner of Barney's Country Garage, located in the St. Brides section of Chesapeake. Mr. Barnes was a member of Moyock Baptist Church, Moyock, N.C.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Cuthrell Barnes, and his son, Christopher Lee Barnes, both of Chesapeake.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Vic Ramsey. The viewing will begin Sunday with the family receiving friends from 3 to 6 p.m. at Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, Great Bridge.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sidney M. Oman Cancer Treatment Center, Chesapeake General Hospital, 736 N. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
