Daniel Webster King was the son of Curtis and Matilda (Sharp) King.

Daniel served in the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private on 11 Aug 1862 at the age of 19 and was assigned to Company H, 36th Iowa Infantry Regiment on 27 Aug 1862. He was transferred on 20 Nov 1863
to Regiment RC. He was taken prisoner on 25 April 1864 at the Battle of Marks Mill, Arkansas and marched to the Confederate POW camp at Tyler, Texas where he remained under horrifying and inhumane conditions until he was exchanged (paroled) on 25 Feb 1865 at Red River Landing, LA. He mustered out on 24 Aug 1865 in Devall's Bluff, AR. His brother, James KP also served in the IA 36th Infantry, but was not taken POW.

Daniel was married twice:
1. 15 Oct 1865 in Chillicothe, Wapello County, Iowa to Margaret A. Warren (1843-1877).
They had three children:
Arthur Ambrose King (1866-1929)
Alice Jane King (1869-1941)
George W. King (1875- ?)
(Daniel and his brother, James, married sisters, Margaret and Hannah Warren.)

2. 29 Jun 1887 in Otoe Co., Nebraska to Nora Ellen Erb (1870-1938). They had eight children:
An unknown infant (born and died between 1887-1891)

Anna Catherine King
Clyde Gilroy King
Ruby Fern King
Dewey McKinley King
Walter King
Charlotte Matilda King
