VALPARAISO VISITOR -- Jan.2,1913-- John E. Bengston whose body was buried in the Valparaiso cemetery on Christmas Day was one of the earlier settlers in this vicinity coming here in the year 1887, and lived in town about fifteen years. The greater part of that time he was in the employ of the Union Pacific. After this he farmed for a few years until after the death of his wife which occurred 16 years ago. His wife and daughter are buried in the Valparaiso cemetery and his only son John B. Bengston, who lives in Lincoln. His brother Anton of this place and his sister Miss Emma Bengston, who lives in Lincoln were all present at the funeral. For three years or more Mr. Bengston has lived in North Dakota and from there he was brought to Omaha where a surgical operation was performed for him on Friday, December 20th. He died the following Monday. Mr. Bengston held membership in the Lutheran church at this place. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery Wednesday.
