Bertha Pettit Funeral Rites Are Scheduled

Mrs. Woodrow Warren (Bertha Alice) Pettit, 50, of 1616 N. Don died at 11:45 Monday night in a Kirksville hospital, where hse [sic] had been a patient since July 28. She had been in failing health the past year.

The daughter of Calvin and Bessie Klingsmith Pinkerton, she was born March 16, 1926 in Adair county. On June 22, 1944 in Edina, she was married to Woodrow Warren Pettit who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Bessie Leavitt of Brashear; three sons, Darrell Warren Pettit, Merl Larue Pettit and Phillip Edward Pettit, all of the home; two daughters, Mary Leona Pettit of the home and Karen Sue Abernathy of 1027 North Edgar; two granddaughters, Anna Sue and Flora Jane Abernathy; one sister, Mrs. Forrest (Lucille) Musick of Rt. 4, Kirksville and two brothers, Dale Pinkerton of Brashear and Carl Pinkerton of Green Castle.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Pettit spent most of her life in the Kirksville area.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel, Kirksville. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
