John F. Woods, 64, who had been a resident of Wyoming since 1918, died at 3:45 o'clock Thursday afternoon (February 12th) at the Batavia Hospital where he was taken by ambulance on Sunday evening from a New York Central train in Batavia. He suffered a heart attack while on a business trip to New York four weeks ago and had been confined to a hotel there until Sunday.
Born in Madoc, Hastings County, Ontario, on April 26, 1887, Mr. Woods was the son of the late John and Catherine S. Long Woods. He came from Western Canada to Buffalo in 1912 and resided there until 1918 when he moved to this vicinity, later buying the Eastman farm, a mile northwest of Pearl Creek, where he has since lived.
On April 25, 1901, Mr. Woods married Miss Frances Moon of Belleville, Ont., who died on June 2, 1923. He married Miss Marietta Tonkins of Toronto on August 1, 1924. She survives, and four daughters, Mrs. Lester Wilkie of Warsaw, Mrs. Marie Neal and Mrs. LaVern Blowers of Rochester; and Mrs. Gerald Carroll of LeRoy and five brothers, William, Alfred and Francis Woods of Belleville, Harry of Vernon, British Columbia and George Woods of Melfort, Saskatchewan; two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Mills of Belleville and Mrs. James Diamond of Salmon Arm, British Columbia; three grandsons, Lester and Charles Wilkie of Warsaw, John Carroll of LeRoy and one granddaughter, Frances Wilkie of Warsaw.
