James Richard Hardy, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, died September 12, 2010 at home, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara F Hardy; five children, Lana Lindsay, Keith Richard Hardy (Lani), Linda Nelson (Chuck), Evelyn Hardy and Mark James Hardy (Nikki); 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy Hardy; and two sisters, Leola Neiderer and Bonnie Blakely.
Jim was born January 21, 1933, in Heyburn, Idaho, to Joseph LeRoy Hardy and Vadis Luzon Wodskow. He and Barbara were married January 24, 1953. They were later solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1971.
Jim graduated from Burley High School in 1951, he then played football for Utah State College for a season, and Westminster College for a season.
He was drafted into the Army and served for two years, 1953 - 1955. Afterwards he graduated from technician school in Pocatello, Idaho and was hired shortly thereafter by the FAA in 1960 and moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. He worked as an electronic technician in NAVAIDs, and Long Range Radar for 30 years.
Jim brought the Christmas spirit to numerous children and adults by playing Santa Claus for many years. Jim's hobbies included hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and genealogy.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Jim and Barbara served a mission in 1991-1992 in the Washington, DC Temple and two years in the Denver Temple. Jim had a great passion for genealogy, helping many people with their own family histories, and served a two year mission as a Family History Support Missionary.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Junction West Stake Center, 2542 G Road. Interment will be held Friday, September 17, at 2:00 p.m. at the Basin Cemetery near Oakley, Idaho.
