He was born April 19, 1913, in Thompson, N.D., to Theodore and Sophie Hegg. He grew up and attended school near Thompson and later worked as a farm hand, at the Grand Forks Cemetery and at the Crystal Sugar Plant in East Grand Forks. In 1948 he moved to Laporte, where he farmed and continued to work at Crystal Sugar until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Laporte.
He is survived by two daughters, two sons, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; five brothers, Kermit, Norris, Ole Erwin, Theodore Sidney and Lewis Earl; one sister, Thelma Alme; one grandson, Todd; and one great-grandson, Jordan."
