John Rooker Adair is the son of William Adair (b. abt 1799, d. aft 1860) and Susannah Davis Rooker (b. 1800, d. aft 1860). He is the grandson of the Rev. John Rooker (1755-1840) and Anna Hawkins (1759-1845). He married Sarah Frances Paul (1831-1906) on 6 November 1851 in Abbeville District, South Carolina.
