Rites Held for Art Ackerman

Funeral services for Arthur H Ackerman , 83, a resident of Sargent who died Friday afternoon at the Community hospital, were held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon. The Rev . C. R Fitz conducted the service Mrs. Bert Amos and Miss Sharon Kennedy sang "The Old Rugged Cross " and "Whispering Hope". They were accompanied by Mrs Harold Pointer , organist. Grandsons of Mr. Ackerman served as pallbearers. They were Arlen Gibbons, Danny Gibbeas, Larry Young , Bud Wykoff, Dorrance Richardson, Max Richardson and Don Ellinger . Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery . Mr. Ackerman was born in Illinois July 3, 1875 to John and Mandy Ackerman. He was married to Mary Swallow They lived in Illinois then lived to Iowa for four years coming to Arcadia in 1906. The year of 1925 they moved on a farm in Coburg vicinity. After residing there ten years they made their home in Sargent. They were the parents of six children . Mr. Ackerman spent most of his life as a farmer and then working in a lumber yard for the past four year she was cared for at the Tucker Rest Home . He was admitted to the hospital on January 19. Mrs. Ackerman passed away September 21, 1946. Surviving are four daughters: Mrs Lola Richardson, Halstead, Kansas; Mrs Addie Ellinger, Sacramento, Calif; Mrs. Nellie Gibbens, Sargent: and Mrs. Alma Hunch , Scottsbluff; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons Jessie and Howard . The Spooner-Rhoad Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
