(also referred to as the Union Station Massacre)Frank Nash, a federal prisoner at the time, was being transported to the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth Kansas. Adam Richetti, Vernon Miller, and Charles Arthur "Pretty Boy Floyd" reportedly fired on officers and FBI agents transporting Frank Nash in front of the Union Station in Kansas City MO., killing Nash, two police officers, and one FBI agent, who at that time did not carry firearms. Others were wounded. Because of this incident, legislation was passed to allow the FBI to carry firearms, and thus making J. Edgar Hoover one of the most powerful in United States history.
