Mellen, Joseph.Resignation dated Holliston, Oct. 27, 1779, signed by said Mellen, stating that he had been commissioned as 1st Lieutenant, 1st Holliston co. of militia, Col. Samuel Bullard's regt., and had since performed the duties of his position at home and in one fatiguing campaign, and asking to be dismissed from the office aforesaid inasmuch as all the other officers in the regiment who had been commissioned at the same time had been given new commissions; resignation approved by Abner Perry, Colonel, 5th Middlesex Co. regt.; ordered in Council Dec. 31, 1779, that the resignation be accepted.
