"Known as Uncle Ruby, he was a tall, thin man with long feet; so long that his shoes had to be special made. He never got in a hurry. His wife often became very disgruntled when he had a funeral and sometimes would stay the rest of the day with the family. His grandchildren all loved him; his favorite saying was 'Shuckums.' He loved to eat ripe poppaws! He also had an interest in music, and at one time played in a band.
He lived for a while on Patrick Creek in Wayne County in the early 1900's, before going to Logan County where he served as Deputy Sheriff. Later, he returned to Wayne County and operated a service station in Spunky.
Encouraged by Henry Fisher of Huntington, Ruby started a funeral home in Spunky, known as the Booton-Fisher Funeral Home, later named Booton, then Morris-Booton, and today known as Morris Funeral Home in Wayne, WV."
