Mrs. Mary B. (Daily) Channing, 99, a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, PA, and formerly of Snider Avenue and the Trinity House both in Waynesboro, entered into eternal rest at 6:14 P.M. Sunday, September 12, 2010 in the nursing home.
She was born on July 14, 1911 in Wintersville, Ohio; she was the daughter of the late Ephrim and Blanche (Ohler) Daily.
Mrs. Channing attended school in Ohio and also attended two years at Wintersville-Steubenville Business College.
She and her late husband, Mr. Lester W. Channing, were married June 29, 1929 in Wellsburg, WV. Mr. Channing died December 17, 1957. Mrs. Channing entered Quincy Village in June 2010.
While living in Steubenville, OH, she worked at Woolworth's Department Store and after moving to this area, she worked as a machine operator at Mont Alto Shoe Factory. She retired in 1962. Following her retirement, she did seasonal work for Musselman's in Biglerville for seven years.
Mrs. Channing was a member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro.
She is survived by the following children, Dolores L. Richardson of Davenport, FL; Marjorie A. Rugg husband Carl of Mont Alto, PA; Glenn E. Channing wife Joanna of Waynesboro; Charles L. Channing wife Carol of Mont Alto; Janice M. Miller husband Gary of Waynesboro; Richard L. Channing of Fayetteville, PA; Sandra E. Edelman of Waynesboro; Donna R. Moatz husband Greg of Chambersburg, 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Ethel Smith of Steubenville, OH and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy J. Schroyer and one brother, George Daily.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor John Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
