Born in the southeast corner of the Choctaw Nation to some of the original white settlers in the area, William Mancel Fowler of Georgia and wife Juliann. Married his wife Rena on Dec 6, 1921.

Reverend Rufus Fowler
, 75, passed away Monday, March 3, 1975 at Memorial Hospital.

Reverend Fowler entered the ministry in the mid-1940's and pastored churches in Choctaw, Pushmataha and McCurtain Counties as well as in western Arkansas. He had lived in this county about 21 years.

Survivors include:
Wife Rena Daniel of the home, one son Cecil Fowler of Monticello, Utah, four daughter, Mrs. John H. James of Hugo; Mrs. Harold O. Potter of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Raydene Stephenson of Hugo and Mrs. Pat Chroniaster of Oregon; one brother, Oscar of Millerton; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Henthorne of Valliant, Mrs. Betty Strickland of Millerton, Mrs. Jean Evans of Idaho, Mrs. Bell Collier of Oklahoma and Mrs. Gertrude Songer of Hugo.

Arrangements by Coffey Funeral Home with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
