Marion A. Acker, Highway Head, Dies In Hospital.
Marion A. Acker, acting superintendent of highways of Livingston county died Saturday, Mar. 20 in Rochester General hospital where he had been taken the previous Thursday, suffering from a heart ailment.
Mr. Acker was born in Lakeville July 13, 1894, and had spent his entire life there, in the same home in which he was living at the time of his death, with the exception of a year or two spent in Pennsylvania. He attended Livonia High school and Mechanics Institute in Rochester. On June 24, 1915, he was married to Marjorie Bristol of Avon. For several years he served as electrical inspector for Underwriters but, for the last 18 years, had been associated with the county highway department, 16 years as assistant to the late George Webster of Conesus and since Aug. 1, 1946, as acting head.
He was a member of the Livonia Rotary club, Livonia Masonic lodge, Lakeville Fire department, Conesus Lake Sportsmen's club. New York State Highway Engineer's association and the New York State County Highway Superintendent's association. A member of the Republican party, he took an active place in party activities.
Besides his widow, Marjorie Bristol Acker, he is survived by a son, Louis, of Philadelphia, Pa., two brothers, Carroll of Lakeville, and Harold, of East Lake road, Conesus Lake and a grandson, Brent.
Funeral services were held at The Reed Funeral home, Washington street, Livonia, Monday afternoon at 2:30. with the Rev. Robert Lester, pastor of Lakeville Congregational church officiating. Burial was made in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Geneseo.
