James moved with his father's family from Wayne County, TN to nearby Tishomingo County, MS in 1842, and then on to Upshur County, TX in the 1850s. It was in Upshur County that he met and married Georgia Ann Petty. (thought by some to be married on 17 Dec 1868). They had eleven children, nine who lived to adulthood. JFCE, 9/27/14.
