They were married in the state of New York, from which city they went to Chicago, and in 1873 came to Manitowoc county, Wisconsin, Mr. Auton securing employment in a lumber mill, with which he was connected until the time of his death, March 18, 1886. His widow still survives him and makes her home in Manitowoc. She is a member of the Catholic church, and has been the mother of a family of six children, of whom two are deceased."
