"History of Manitowoc County Wisconsin" by Dr. L. Falge, 1911-1912, v.2, p.100: Part of son, Arthur J. Auton bio: "Leonard and Catherine (Kane) Auton, the former a native of England and the latter of Ireland. They were married in the state of New York, from which city they went to Chicago, and in 1873 came to Manitowoc county, Wisconsin, Mr. Auton securing employment in a lumber mill, with which he was connected until the time of his death, March 18, 1886. His widow still survives him and makes her home in Manitowoc. She is a member of the Catholic church, and has been the mother of a family of six children, of whom two are deceased."

Len Auton of this city died on Thursday of last week of a complication
of diseases. He has been sick for a long time but showed wonderful
energy and pluck.
