Services were May 1 at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City for Edwain Charles "Ed" Ard of Osage City, who died Friday, April 27, 2001, at home.
He was born Dec 26, 1935, in Osage City, to Elmer And Marie Harper Ard, and attended school in Osage City. He was an automobile salesman in Osage City for 44 years and currently was employed by Holthaus Motors. he previously worked for Hewitt Motor Co., and then Shields Motor Co.
He married Mary Kelly on June 19, 1956. They divorced. He married LaVerne Harper on January 19, 1980. She survives.
A son, Erick Ard, preceded him in death.
Other survivors include two sons, Allen Ard, Leavenworth, and Irwin Ard, Topeka; two daughters, Rita Marriott and Rose Pyle, both in Osage City, four brothers, Merle Ard and Elmer "Buster" Ard both in Topeka, Jack Ard, Carbondale, and Robert "Bob" Ard, Aurora, Mo.; four sisters, Lois Gurtler and Verna Morris, both in Osage City, Agnes "Aggie" Payne, Owasso, Okla., and Edith Bridgewater, Arcadia; and seven grandchildren.
Burial was in Osage City Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Ed Ard Memorial Fund yet to be designated and sent in care of the funeral home.
