93 years∼Cherryville – Mrs. Sue Barbara Allen Rayfield, 93, of 6409 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Rayfield was born on November 14, 1916 in Gaston County a daughter of the late Miles Allen and Sloane Clark Allen. She was former owner and operator of Arkary Beauty Salon of Gastonia and Adorn Hair Styling of Bessemer City. Mrs. Rayfield also had a special place in her heart for over 30 foster children. She was a member of Arrowood Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher for the Youth.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret Fourshee of Cherryville; Virginia Fields and husband Robert of Belmont; Inez Black and husband Howard of Rocky Mount; Robin Wells and husband Nathaniel of Weddington; sons Hinkle Rayfield Jr. and wife Carolyn and Timothy Rayfield, of the home; one sister, Virginia Elmore of Crouse; 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Rayfield was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Hinkle Rayfield, Sr.; a son-in-law, Garland Fourshee; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Arrowood Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
Visitation will be at Arrowood Baptist Church, 6417 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 6:30 until 9:00PM.
