Thomas Quitman Alsbury was a son of Hanson Alsbury (1801-1857) and Harriet Raymond Plummer. While on a hunting trip on October 10, 1849, Thomas Quitman Alsbury died accidentally at the age of about 17. Upon dismounting from his horse, "a load passed through his body killing him instantly", as reported in the Texas State Gazette of October 27, 1849. He was buried in the small Alsbury Family Cemetery on the homestead of his uncle, Young Perry Alsbury.
