WESTBORO - Mary A. (Jurga) Arnold, 84, of The Willows, 1 Lyman St., a retired bank worker, died Tuesday in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after suffering a stroke on Saturday.

Her husband of 48 years, Cedric L. Arnold, former president of Union Hospital, Lynn, died in 1984. She leaves a son, Robert L. Arnold of Westboro; a daughter, M. Deborah Parlin of North Grafton; three sisters, Blanche Burrill of Littleton, Sophie Day of Shirley and Helen Briggs of Onset; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews and nieces. A sister, Nellie Burrill of Shirley, died last year. She was born in Shirley, daughter of Michael and Petronilla (Wasilenska) Jurga, and lived briefly in Cambridge and then in Swampscott for many years. She then moved to Marblehead in 1959 and here in 1991. She graduated from Fitchburg High School.

Mrs. Arnold worked at Safety Fund National Bank, Fitchburg, retiring many years ago. She previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank, Boston. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Swampscott, and a Lioness with the Swampscott Lions Club. She also did volunteer work at Union Hospital, Lynn, for many years. She was a member of Boston and Corinthian Yacht Clubs, both in Marblehead.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Robert C. Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., Grafton. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. A calling hour will be 9 to 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham 01701.
