Otto LeRoy Shirey, adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shirey, was born at Exira, Iowa, May 4th, 1920. Passed away at the home in Palmer on the afternoon of May 20th. Age 6 years, 16 days.

His mother preceded him in death last August. Last September, Mr. Shirey, a brother of his mother, legally adopted him. The little fellow has had a good home the short time he was with them.

He was a good obedient child and of a very cheerful disposition, and had won the love of the entire family as well as his school mates.

His death brought a sad goom on all those who knew him.

He leaves a father, Mr. Orden Carley of Exira, Iowa, 4 sisters, Mrs. Otto Brown of Atlantic, Iowa, Bertha, Schrilda and Ivodel Carley of Exira, Iowa. His parents by adoption, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shirey, their six daughters, Mrs. Inez Ward of St. Paul, Mrs. Grace Prowett, Nancy, Muriel, Mildred and Dorthy and two sons Earl and Orval of Palmer.

Funeral services were conducted by Mr. N. S. Carpenter at the Christian Church Sunday afternoon, May 23. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
