Richard J. Andel, 63, of Endicott, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Eva Andel. Richard is survived by his twin sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Mock of Endicott; brother and sister-in-law, David and Judith Andel, also of Endicott; niece, Maureen Mock and great niece and nephew, Joelle and Braden DeLisle of Apalachin; nephew, Patrick Lane of Brooklyn; one aunt, Anne Petrozello of Endicott, several cousins; special friends, Dawn Townsend and Susan Shaver; and his faithful lab, "Bud-E". Rick graduated from Union-Endicott High School and Broome Community College and retired from IBM Corporation with 28 years of service. He served with the U.S. Army 198th Infantry Brigade of the Americal Division in Vietnam, was a member of the Organization of Vietnam Veterans, a life member of the Americal Division Veterans Association and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1449 Endicott. Rick was an avid New York Giants fan, but loved watching all sports. He was also a great outdoors person and a die hard fly fisherman who loved trout fishing on the Delaware River and Adirondack mountain streams, and northern pike fishing with the guys every year on the St. Lawrence River. Rick touched many lives and leaves behind many close friends who will miss him dearly. The family would like to thank the staff at Lourdes Hospital for the wonderful care and attention he received.

Funeral services will be held Friday at l0:00 AM from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc, 300 East Main St, Endicott and 10:30 AM at St Joseph's Church, Endicott where a Funeral Mass will be offered.

Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rick's memory to the American Lung Association, National Processing Center, P.O. Box 7002, Albert Lee, MN 46007 or the American Cancer Society , 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.
