India Virginia Rasberry was born near the town of Evergreen in Washington (now Lee) County, Texas on June 28, 1873. She was the second of eleven children born to John Willis "Jack" Rasberry, and Josephine "Josey" Thompson.

The family moved to Fisher County, Texas in 1882 and settled in the new town of Roby around 1885. While on a hunting trip, her father and some of his friends discovered a large tract of vacant land in the valley of the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River in the northwest corner of Fisher county. Jack filed for a homestead on 160 acres of this land on February 13, 1888 and the family, which now included five children and another on the way, made their move to the new homestead in April, 1888.

India married William Henry "Will" Adair on July 3, 1890 in Roby, Fisher County, Texas. They homesteaded 320 acres in the Longhorn Valley along the Brazos River in northwest Fisher County, Texas. Their homestead was adjacent to the homestead of Will's father, J. K. Adair. They initially lived in a half dugout, where they began raising their family of 12 children. The family farmed and raised stock. They sold their farms several times and purchased new ones, moving back and forth between Texas and New Mexico. Will and India had the following children:

Anna Ora Adair 1891-1891
May Dorcas Adair 1892-1990
Hattie Cora Adair 1894-1985
Willie G. Adair 1895-1966
Al C. "Brother" Adair 1897-1965
Mattie Adair 1899-1984
Eva Josephine Adair 1900-1978
James Lloyd "Jim" Adair 1903-1957
John Floyd Adair 1903-1970
Henry Charley Adair 1906-1968
Ira Alfred Adair 1909-1961
Rachel Dell Adair 1913-2012

In 1934 Will's dad had a stroke that left him partially paralyzed and bed-fast. Will and India sold the place they had in New Mexico at the time and moved back to Texas to help care for him until his death in 1938. Will died on Mar 8, 1940, in Fisher County, Texas. India eventually moved in with her daughter, Mattie Adair Blevins and her husband Top Blevins in Elida, New Mexico. She died on March 18, 1961, while visiting her son Henry in Roswell, New Mexico. She is buried in the Cottonwood Flat Cemetery in Scurry County, Texas. India was survived by 10 children, 29 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
