George J. Kapraun, age 75, of Metamora passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 11:59 p.m. at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Streator, Ill., to George H. and (Marie K. Waldschmidt) Kapraun. He married Betty A. Alig on July 25, 1953, in Metamora. She survives.
George is also survived by his two sons, Joe (Lisa) Kapraun and Greg (Vicki) Kapraun, both of Metamora; his four daughters, Theresa Dutton, Linda and Kevin Fehl, Denise and Rob Doyle, and Amy Berkhahn, all of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Edward Kapraun of Benson, and Donald and Betty Kapraun of Metamora; and four sisters, Mary Rowell of Elburn, Ill., Caroline and Jerry Glowacki of Minonk, Janet and Jim Aellig of Wheaton, Ill., and Nancy and Chuck Stoltz of Greensboro, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Betsy; and one brother, Raymond.
He was a cabinet maker for Metamora Woodworking for 25 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's dart ball league and Knights of Columbus Ladies of Our Sorrows Council 3060.
