Mrs. Emma Sheldon Bean, 67, i lifetime resident of this area, died unexpectedly
at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Smethport. She had been in failing health for the past
year but her condition had not been regarded as serious.
She was born Oct. 28, 1897, In Red Rock, the daughter of the late Frank and
Sadie French Schoolmaster. Her husband, John Bean, preceded her in death.
Surviving her are four sons, S. LaVerne Sheldon, Smethport,
Richard A. Sheldon, Pittsford, N.Y., Thomas J. Sheldon, Turnwater,
Wash., and John Bean Jr., Sedalia, Mo.; three daughters,
Mrs. Michael J. Ross, East Rochester, N.Y., Miss Harriett
Sheldon, Syracuse, N.Y., and Mrs. Milton Schautz, St. Marys;
17 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren; two brothers,
Walter Schoolmaster Smethport RD 1, and Frank Schoolmaster,
Ormsby, and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Jackson, Eldred.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Fry Funeral
Home, Smethport, at a time to be announced.
