Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was with Battery A, 4th U.S. Artillery at the Angle at Gettysburg on July 3, l863. During Pickett's Charge, as the Confederates were about the cross over the stone wall, Fuger was aiding his commander, Lt. Alonzo Cushing, direct the battery's fire, when Cushing was killed. Fuger assumed command of the battery and fired the remaining rounds before fighting hand-to-hand to drive the Confederates off the field. He was award the Medal of Honor for this action. He was wounded twice during the war at White Oak Swamp and Antietam. He retired in 1900 as a Major.
